1. Submarine in normal operation and gets into difficulty.
2. Crewman wearing PLB8-MS Submariner Alerting Unit exits submarine (with Alerting Unit around his neck, his hands are free) Alerting Unit automatically activates after 5 seconds immersion as crewman rises to surface.
3. Crewman reaches surface with Alerting Unit already transmitting. The 121.5 MHz signal and 'SOS' light signal from each crewman wearing a AU is tracked by rescue teams and the Crewman is recovered.
